Your Private Care Association

Celebrating 30 Years of Representing Caregiver Registries

Since 1977, the Private Care Association has been committed to protecting for-profit caregiver registries through its active government relations program, designed to present its position to public policymakers.  As the only national voice for caregiver registries, PCA is continuing to expand its membership to develop greater capability for nationwide grassroots advocacy to promote our interests and the consumer-directed model of care. The principal advantages of consumer-directed care are that it costs less, provides consumers greater participation in decisions concerning their care, allows consumers to individually select caregivers, provides greater continuity in caregiver relationships, more generously compensates the caregiver, and supports caregiver entrepreneurship.

For 30 years the PCA has advocated the Consumer directed model of care.

We believe that the consumer who elects to privately pay for their own or family members care has the right to assess their own care needs, make decisions about how private care services would meet those needs, choose how they want that care delivered, select the personnel who will deliver that care and choose how, when and where that care will be delivered.

The PCA supports Licensure in every State.

PCA supports legislation and regulation that protects the rights of the elderly, infirm and disabled care recipients through consumer choice. We believe that all registries and agencies that provide caregivers for in-home care should be licensed for medical, skilled and personal care services. We support compliance with requirements for criminal background checks, credentialing of caregivers and procedures for complaints and abuse reporting.
